As you might’ve gathered, I’ve spent most of November playing Dragon Age: The Veilguard. While it’s not perfect, and maybe not everything I wished for, I enjoyed it a lot! I’m playing it a second time now and am trying to collect some thoughts on usability (noticing UX is hard even when you have more space than what a mobile screen could offer) while enjoying testing new approaches.
Anyways, one thing I was particulary impressed by was the character creator! Before the game came out, I was half-joking I wanted to recreate Raba (a Tevinter mage I’m playing in a Dragon Age TTRPG), and I was pleasantly surprised that I could get pretty close to that vision!
He’s not wearing glasses, but at least I could make him look very tired from straining his eyes all the time XD I’m so happy that you can adjust things like height and body shape a lot more nowadays! It was really fun seeing this chubby character being totally badass in the game, so thank you for this Bioware!
Anyways, I decided to draw Raba as he appears in Veilguard, in my favourite armour:
I really love how detailed all the different outfits are in this game…except for when I try to draw them XD But it was almost therapeutic to work on these details while trying to digest the game after my first playthrough (and I love the bold colour combinations).
